Performing Arts at Fountainhead School has a compulsory and an optional component. The arts are important areas of learning in our program. Students learn the disciplines of visual arts, music and drama. They also learn about the skills and processes involved through the arts - artists, perspectives, themes and ideas using the arts. In all areas of learning, the school values imagination, creativity and original thinking. The creative process is seen as a driving force in learning through inquiry in the PYP. The arts are built into the curriculum as essential areas of learning, not added on as optional extras. They consist of two major strands which are creating and responding. a. The Compulsory Program consists of 1. Visual Arts: The visual arts expectations are arranged as creative processes, elements of art and design, visual arts in society and reflection and appreciation. Each component is addressed separately, although in practice they are interactive and interrelated elements. 2. Music: The music scope and sequence framework identifies the major expectations considered essential in the PYP. These expectations are arranged as performing, creating and composing notation, listening and appreciation. The performing component is organized into sub-components of singing and playing instruments. Each one is addressed separately, although in practice they are interactive and interrelated elements. 3. Drama-Dance: The drama scope and sequence framework identifies the major expectations considered essential in the PYP. These expectations are arranged as creative exploration and expression, technical incorporation, performance, personal and social development, reflection, evaluation and appreciation and drama in society. Each component is addressed separately, although in practice they are interactive and interrelated elements. b. Arts Special (Optional component): Fountainhead currently offers Keyboard, Guitar, Tabla, Vocal, Visual Arts, Classical Dance, Folk Dance and Speech and Drama, out of which students choose one. Fountainhead also plans to start before & after school performing arts activities from the coming session apart from offering more specialization areas such as pottery, fine arts, etc. Normal 0 false false false false EN-GB X-NONE X-NONE
