Fountainhead has been authorized to run the CIE IGCSE program. Our first batch of Grade 9 will start in 2012-13.

Middle Years Programme (Grade 7-10)

At Fountainhead we offer CIE check point and CIE- IGCSE programme for the middle years. The curriculum encourages vital educational skills, problem solving and team work and is designed to ensure that the students have a smooth transition from middle school to senior years.

Curriculum for Grade 7 & 8 for Mathematics and Science follows the CIE Checkpoint textbooks so that our students are ready for the IGCSE. For Languages (English and Hindi) and Social Studies, the school has picked up a range of high quality text to give the students the best possible exposure and preparation for the IGCSE.

Checkpoint Examinations:

Cambridge Checkpoint is a diagnostic test. It provides feedback on a student's strengths and weaknesses in key curriculum areas. Cambridge Checkpoint test provide schools with an external international benchmark for student performance. Cambridge Checkpoint results provide an indication of how students will perform at Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge O level.

Cambridge Checkpoint tests are available in English, Mathematics & Science and will be conducted every year in April.

IGCSE Programme:

The International General Certificate for Secondary Education (IGCSE) provides a broad based curriculum for students of age group 14-16 years old. It is a comprehensive two year programme for Grade 9 & 10. Students appear for the IGCSE examinations conducted by CIE at the end of Grade-10.

Cambridge IGCSE encourages learner-centered and enquiry-based approaches to learning. IGCSE is one of the most sought-after and recognized qualifications in the world. It develops and encourages vital educational skills, including oral skills, investigative skills, problem solving, team work, recall of knowledge and initiative.

Cambridge qualifications are recognized worldwide and are also equivalent to the Indian boards- Central board of Secondary Education and Indian Certificate of Secondary Education. It provides an excellent foundation for their next step in education, including progression to higher level courses such as A and AS Level and International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.

There are five subject groups in IGCSE with several subjects to choose from in each group. A Minimum of 5 subjects are needed for IGCSE.   At Fountainhead we offer minimum 7 subjects to students and get an additional qualification- The International Certificate of Education (ICE). International Certificate of Education (ICE) is prestigious and recognized than standard IGCSE.

Students in classes IX and X can select a minimum of 7 subjects and a maximum of 8 or 9 subjects depending on their area of interest. Out of the 7 subjects, the compulsory subjects are:

English Language First and Second Language Hindi Group 1

International Mathematics Group 4

Physical Education Group 5

They can select one or 2 subjects from the other groups, depending on their choice of interest. Co-ordinates sciences from group 3 carries 2 credits and is for those students who are keen to pursue a career in a science related field. Students who are not going to take up a science related field can opt for Environmental Science.
