CAS
CAS (Creativity, Activity and Service), is one of the core requirements for the IB Diploma Programme.
Students are involved in a range of different activities along with the academics over a period of two years. Successful completion of CAS is a requirement for the award of the IB diploma.
Through CAS, students continue to strengthen the approaches to learning they encounter and develop in the PYP and MYP. In approaches to learning, students are encouraged to grow both personally and socially, developing skills such as cooperation, problem-solving, conflict resolution and creative and critical thinking, as well as developing their own identities. CAS continues to develop students’ ability to engage in critical reflection, offering increasingly sophisticated opportunities for students to analyse their own thinking, effort and performance. Students also learn how to set challenging goals and develop the commitment and perseverance to achieve them. (CAS guide)
CAS emphasizes reflection which is central to building a deep and rich experience in CAS. R@eflection informs students’ learning and growth by allowing students to explore ideas, skills, strengths, limitations and areas for further development and consider how they may use prior learning in new contexts.

Missing Link Trust is a non-profit organization based in Kolkata. MISSING is a public awareness campaign and the objective of this campaign is to save girls through awareness. Awareness = prevention. (https://www.savemissinggirls.com/)
As a part of CAS (Creativity, activity, service) and to work for the cause, few G 11 students were involved in multiple activities like a reality role playing video game, making posters, conducting awareness sessions in nearby municipal schools and making stencils that help raise awareness and generate empathy in the students for victims of trafficking.
It was challenging for students, to convey the message, especially due to the language barrier but it helped them to work on their communication, social and thinking skills. They realised it is important to spread awareness related to these topics as most of them are not aware or do not have relevant information.
Reflection from the students:
It was a touching experience that meant a lot to me and allowed me to acknowledge my privilege at being in such a safe environment. The session was very important to me, both personally as a leader and friend, and as a woman in India who might face the risks of human trafficking herself. I am glad that I took this project and I plan on following through by hopefully conducting more sessions – Ananya Jain
The human trafficking awareness session gave us an opportunity to spread awareness amongst less educated students in our city about this serious and rampant issue, and took a step towards making this city safer – Neev Jogani
